This is a XP problem first and foremost. This computer is an OEM computer.
The description of the problem is that a temp folder was created in my
document and settings folder next to the other users of my computer and now I
cannot run certain programs at all. I really cannot describe the problem any
better than that. Any suggestions???

"Temp folder" is pretty vague.

What is the name of the folder? Do you mean "C:\Documents and
Settings\Temp" ?

Or does it correspond to another user - or is it a non-descript?

If you are logged on as an Administrator, do you have read-write access to
this "temp folder"?

If yes, temporarily cut and paste it to a different location and see if the
problem programs now run ok.

Was the following KEY folder renamed or deleted?
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users

Report back and perhaps we can assist you better.

Are the names of all of the programs that will not run located here?
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data

If so, then as the name "All Users" indicates, you should have permission to
run them unless another user with administrator privileges uninstalled one
or more.

Also, choose one of the apps that will not run. Then check C:\Program Files
to see if the folder exists for the app and whether the EXE file is located
in one of the sub-folders.
