This a PC with XP and IE7.

There are two users with administrator access. One user can open Shockwave
files with no problems. The other user cannot open them with IE but can open
them with Firefox.

When the file opening fails a message similar to those below is available.

Details
Line: 2
Char: 1
Error: Invalid character
Code: 0
URL: http:www.(filename).swf

or this one

Details
Line: 2
Char: 1
Error: object expected
Code:0
URL: http:www.(filename).swf

In either case the additional information below is present

"Problems with this Web page might prevent it from displaying properly or
functioning properly."

What is going on here? How is this problem resolved?

I will try the other newsgroup. I don't know if the problem is specific to
IE7 or not as both users are using IE7and one account works and the other
doesn't.

Is this really IE7 and not IE6? If so, try enabling LocalMachine_LockDown
e.g. *uncheck* in Options, Advanced tab, Security section

Allow active content to run in files on My Computer*

(*only takes effect in new instances of iexplore.exe)
