A problem no one can solve

I have a problem that my organizations IT-experts can't solve.

When I try to open IE 6.0 the browser shuts down and the Explorer opens and
points to the Desktop. Normally it goes so fast that you can't see the IE
opening.
It feels like they/I have tried Everything: Options... Regedit... the lot.

The special thing is that I use a software that is called MultiNetwork
Manager 6.5 - that can make me use different domain setup from start. We
think that the MNM is interfering or Company policies??? But no one seams to
know.

So this is my last resort. Have anyone come across something like this?
Or knows how to make this happen...

Your experts would have a better idea how to fix your problem as they have
acces to your PC and its settings.

I can only suggest that you check the properties of your IE shortcut. It
should have properties similar to below

Target: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" ( no command line
parameters here)
Start in: %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH% (you may have invalid values here)

Seems to me that IE is starting up and can't find the start-in folder and so
starts windows explorer to browse for the folder.

Bad BHO can cause this. You haven't disclosed your OS but if it is XPsp2
try using its Manage Add-ons to try _systematically_ disabling such.
Note *any* extension should be suspected until proven not to be the cause.
One of the very first ones which were found to cause this identical symptom
was the BHO from Acrobat Reader.

Otherwise use the standard tools you can find suggested
by searching for such strings as Bad BHO and malware.
E.g. on that web interface to newsgroups which you are using
press Alt-7 and enter those three words...
