A printer that isn't hooked up keeps trying to install

Ok, I installed some adaptec drivers on W2K and got some
stop errors. I finally had to delete all the adaptec
stuff off my system and now it's 90% back to normal. But
now, everytime I start it, it finds a printer and tries to
install the driver for it, it doesn't matter if there is a
printer connected or not. I can cancel out of this, but
the printer that is attached via a parallel doesn't work.
On my device manager the only thing that is out of sorts
is the SCSI/RAID Host controller (manufacturer unknown).
It doesn't have a driver installed and I've looked for a
replacement but nothing seems viable.

I've got the install disk for the printer but installing
it doesn't seem to help.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try hooking up the printer that isn't there any more, then uninstalling
it, then disconnecting it. You should never remove a device without
uninstalling it first. (Why W2K is designed this way is something I
can't fathom.)

Or try regedit, RegCleaner, or a similar utility - look for references
to the missing printer and delete them.

It was for an OLD hp cd writer.

I'm gonna try the registry method. Thanks a bunch!
