A new category of software? (O.T.)

Today while looking at my Yahoo email account, a very suspicious offer
for a free screensaver led me to the following site:

http://www.doxdesk.com/

This guy really has a deep seated hatred for browser hijackers and the
like. He calls them:

"unsolicited commercial software"

I like that play on words. It's not that they're actually $ware, but
rather that they result in commercials popping up every time your
browse (if you use IE and no popup blocker).

Perhaps I should clarify that the link to the "free" screensaver
doesn't lead to that site, but rather a search in Alta Vista for the
screensaver company's name plus the word "spyware" led me to that site.

John, technically, it is software as the majority of
BHO's/hi-jackers/spyware etc, are programs and/or ActiveX controls (both
classed as software)

Steven,
What I meant was that they're not commercial software in the sense
that you pay for them with money, but rather they are software
programs that show you commercials. Of course, I know that they're
software.
