A new approach

Is it not time to come with a new approach to handle
spyware and other malware. It must be possible to implement
a feature in an operating system that allows only
validated sites to make use of all internet features like
Java, ActiveX, Flash popups, etc. I'am think about .NET
sites. If a site is not validated all features are not
allowed for that site and automatically disabled
by the operating system. If a validated site makes mis use
of its status. Its status can be withdrawn. Validated
sites can easily taken reponsible for any damage they can
cause if they mis use their status.

Oh, you mean make sure that when someone buys a domain name they have to
supply valid information for the ownership information, and then when you do
a lookup of the domain owners you can find them and sue them for malicious
behaviour? :)

Dave

Yep.

Hi

Well, this sounds scary............... 8-o

This should NOT (except malicious code) be something for a OS (MS) to
detect, in the
beginning of Longhorn development MS was talking about
a chips named Palladium.
http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/Longhorn/longhorn_palladium.htm

http://www.windowsitpro.com/Article/ArticleID/25681/25681.html?Ad=1

MS have now changed this plan and do not mention any Palladium chip.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/longhorn/security.mspx

All antithrust regulators as DOJ and EU will carefully examin this and
they will not make the same mistake as with XP.

To identify malicious software is one issue but to ban sites is nearly
impossible and this
must be something for goverments, operators and domain providers to
deal with in a worldwide
perspective. If you want to ban sites this must be with blocklists
openly showed for
all users.

As we all know it is a big problem with China and Russia with SPAM and
also with
unprotected PCs so called "Zombies" which is remotely controlled in big
Botnets with thousands
of Zombies delievering malware from the bad guys. And now we also have
an
explosion with new Trojans and keyloggers so this is a real
challenge................

Jan..> You can not win with only Antivirus and and Anti-
spyware. You will be always walking behind the facts.
It is now time to strength the internet policies.
If a site is the source of spreading malicious code it
must be banned immediatedly. It can be done by blocking
the bad ip adresses in routers used by internet backbones
etc. If for instance Google cannot control its
advertisement sources and one of the sources cause
problems on private computers then Google's public IP
adres(ses) have to be blocked. Google's IP adres(ses)can
come available when precautions etc. are made. Maybe they
have also to pay for damage they or related sites have
caused.
Is that not a strong measurement. ISP and other companies
will be more carefull in exploiting their facilities.

Jan formulated on måndag :
Jan ---> If we must wait on the steps goverments will

Well, is it better to let MS deside this ? This makes me thinking
about
KGB, Stasi and cold war...............

And our goverments are working with this ! Have you heard about the
word
"trafficing" ? In Europe this is discussed now and its about slavery
and
that the bad guys smuggling human beings around Europe for money.
What Police and authoritys talking about now is how to filter this
Internet
market for this.

So spyware is a smaller problem.................. :oÞ

Also heard some rumours about censor in China and this is scary for all
democratic nations.

Well, if you carefully study any blocklist from MVP.org and Spam
blocklists etc
every user can check what sites are included.

For some time ago MCI in US was forced to throw out well known spammers
but
they moved to Russia and are now using Botnets..............

Yes , (e-mail address removed)
and within any open blocklist.

Money, Money, and Google must find a solution for this,

Well, my proposal is that any PC with Windows must signal SP2
installed,
antivirusprogram running and up to date and firewall enabled otherwise
this PC cannot be connected to any ISP.

And most improtant to learn all users to NOT click on anything "For
Free",
not open any suspicious attatchments etc.

Really ridiculous that we should need a "Windows for dummies" in
future.

I am directly going over to Linux if somehting like this will happen
with Windows.

:/

Hi,
Well, is it better to let MS deside this ? This makes me thinking

KGB, Stasi and cold war...............

jan---> this has nothing to do with secret services at all
but only with persons or companies who cannot behave
itself on the internet and their only intention is to
destroy others private properties.
Well, if you carefully study any blocklist from MVP.org and Spam
blocklists etc

Jan.---> that is now exacty the problem. Most internet
users have no notion to configure their system in the most
secure way. So those people will allways be a target for
hackers etc. MS must be responsible for users in bringing
out the most sofesticated software which protect most
users from treats they haven't asked for.
For some time ago MCI in US was forced to throw out well known spammers
but
they moved to Russia and are now using

Jan---> close those gateways then.

Jan---> If Google give facilities then they have to think
twice before problems can occur.

Jan----> I think you have also a father, mother,
grandfather or grandmother who are using the internet.
Have they not the right to use the internet on a most
secure way without been attacked by bad people.
Not everybody is a Steve Jobs or a Teller.
I am directly going over to Linux if somehting like this will happen
with Windows.

Jan---> When windows is so secure and stable as a rock
and no holes are found. The attention will go to Linux,
OS X and other platforms, so i don't think choosing
another platform will be a good choice.

Jan was thinking very hard :
Hi,

jan---> this has nothing to do with secret services at all
but only with persons or companies who cannot behave
itself on the internet and their only intention is to
destroy others private properties.

Well, if must say that MS was sleeping and only saw $$$
for a couple of years and everything was lost, now we have
broadband connections everywhere and a browser IE6 and a mailclient OE
which is a real disgrace for MS when we now see the result of this
$-sleeping.
Jan.---> that is now exacty the problem. Most internet
users have no notion to configure their system in the most
secure way. So those people will allways be a target for
hackers etc. MS must be responsible for users in bringing
out the most sofesticated software which protect most
users from treats they haven't asked for.

It is really simple, all Windows users MUST follow 3 simple rules.

1. Firewall
2. Antivirus, updated
3. Windowsupdate

If they dont follow this cut them from Internet. Directly
Jan---> close those gateways then.

They are running this on unprotected private PCs, you can hire a Botnet
army
with Zombies, 10, 100 or 1000 PCs and use them as you want for
distributing malware.
Its a market now on Internet for these Zombie PCs.

Jan---> If Google give facilities then they have to think
twice before problems can occur.

Yes, but nothing is for free any longer............and everyone must
survive.
Jan----> I think you have also a father, mother,
grandfather or grandmother who are using the internet.

Yes, I have and it is to much work with these PCs, often with
dial up connections and its is a real joke to try to
keep these PCs up to date.

And my loved people really need this for banking etc...

But MS closed the door beacuse they only thinks about $ and legitimate
software.
Windowsupdate with dial up, what a joke................ >:|

Well, I know a lot of Windows users which thinks the same,
Windows is great but if it will be closed beacuse of all "dummies"
and "bad guys" Linux is the alternative.
