I have win2k, of course. My friend has XPPro. He can
access the folder I created for him, but I can't connect
to his. I created an account with the correct user:pass, I
can ping him, but when I try to Add Network Place, Make
New Connection, or Map Network Drive, it say the network
path can't be found (in different words). My friend's a
pro, so it may be me. Any ideas will be welcome!

Make sure your friend has "File and Printer sharing" enabled as well as
"Netbios over TCP/IP" on the WINS tab of Advanced TCP/IP properties. Are
you both on the same subnet?

From a command prompt, see if you can do a Net View \\ipaddress (of his
computer).
If this does not give you an error message, and you can view his shares,
then do a
Net View \\computername (of his computer). If this fails and the ip
address succeeds, I would expect it is a name resolution problem.

I would just like to add one other note: Make sure you friends computer
does not have the Internet Connection Firewall enabled on it or you won't
be able to make this connection to it.

Thanks!
