a movie maker which doesn't record movies

my movie maker only records sound from a mic. and doesn't let you configure a video type. I don't see why it's called "movie maker" it should be called "sound maker" or somthing like that... help anyone?
 
You have to have an external source to capture from... it certainly won't
duplicate a DVD.

Exactly what are you trying to do and what is MM doing or not doing?

If you are trying to capture digital video, are you connecting your digital
camcorder via a firewire cable?

If you are trying to capture analog video, which analog hardware capture
device are you using?
