I had a personal folder in My Shortcuts in which I saved all my emails of
importance. Outlook 2002 somehow lost it, deleted, corrupted or whatever.
When I click on the folder now in Outlook I get "Unable to display the
folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location."
error message and can't open the folder.

When I right click on the folder and click Properties I receive the
following error "Unable to display folder properties. The folder may have
been deleted or the server on which the folder is stored is unavailable."

Does anyone know how to repair/restore the folder or do I have to kiss the
folder and all my saved messages good bye.

Search your system for .pst files. If the data still exists, then it will be in one of those files, which you can open with the File | Open | Outlook Data File command in Outlook.
