and there is a remedy, but nobody cares?
Folders tend to lose their view settings (even when Folder Options are set
to "Remember each folder's view settings") or
customizations are lost (the wrong thumbnail, or no thumbnail, is displayed
for a folder for example).
There is/was a workaround for XP - I think they fixed it in XP Sp2
I quote a support person:
Further to our today’s conversation, I acknowledge that the problem you are
encountering is a bug known under the following reference: IE OE Sustained
Eng. 26508 - QFECR INVESTIGATION DONE: QFE: IE6/SP1, Custom folder settings
lost.
A fix request for this bug for Win2K SP4 has already been filled but it was
rejected. We are gonna push forward to try to get this fixed in the next
version of Windows Service Pack.
Since the issue you encountered is a bug, this case will not be charged.
End of quote.
Since then Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4 has been released, and
the bug has still not been fixed - I still have the problem.
If anyone can help (including Microsoft) I would be most grateful!
