I get the following message when I try to read from my floppy drive.
"A:\ is not accessible The request could not be performed because of an I/O
device error."
I have Win XP Pro SP2 plus all updates. This error shows up after the system
has been on for several days. If I power off, or restart the system I can
then read from
the floppy drive ok. I have replaced the drive, and the cable.
My hardware is:
Intel D945GNT motherboard
Intel P4 360 3Ghz
160 G SATA Hard drvie(2 80G in Raid 0)
Zip drive
Sony DRU-800A DVD RW
Floppy
USR modem
Any ideas?

What does the device manager show in the floppy drive
properties?

I've seen this error on some machines too. No idea what causes it.
Try to disable & enable the floppy controller in device manager.

check your bios, it is disabled there..

Device Mgr shows floppy as active with no problems. Same for bios.
I have seen some references to INCD causing problems in several different
posts
in other groups. I am going to look into this further.
