Having upgraded from ME to XP Home....

I now get the following message...

A:\ is not accessible.

Incorrect Function.

I appear to be able to 'format' a system disk, but I get
the message 'Unable to compete format' for a standard
disk...

However, if I attempt to 'see' what is on a disk, I get
the message as described above.... and it doesn't appear
to actually access the drive to determine whether it can
actually read the disk...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Thanks Robert...

No I used 'normal' format... when you try and see what's
on a disk then the message appears immediately... the disk
hasn't been accessed...

any ideas?

I did a google search on that particular error string and I found a lot of
people who have had that exact problem. Some claim they fixed it with a new
drive, others claim it was a formatting issue. Most never found a solution.

I've just upgraded from Me to XP.
Everything is fine - except....... The \A drive. Looking
at the Device manager, it tells me that the driver is
missing (its not) or corrupt (its not)
Reloading the driver works OK while the machine is on,
but goes wrong again on rebooting. See if your driver has
the yellow exclamation mark - I bet it has.......
Still trying to source a solution.
