Hi

We have two sites. Site A and site B. Users in site one
need to get onto a server in site B. DNS has the correct
entry. All users PC's Have the same DNS settings. Half the
people can get on this site and half cant. Gateway and
everything is fine. I ping the server no host known. So i
add a manual entry in the Hosts file. This works. But why
can half the people not get DNS to resolve it. I have
checked permissions too.

Regards

What DNS servers are the users in SiteA using?
What DNS servers are the users in SiteB using?

Do all your DNS servers have the SAME EXACT copy of the zone data? If not, I
can see why there is an inconsistency.

Users in Site A user site A DNS and users in Site B use
Site B's DNS. They are two seperate domains!!.
Some users can get on some users cant. No one in Site B
has this problem.

Thanks

Thanks for responding about the DNS server. Please, the other question is
kind of important as well:

Do these DNS servers have the SAME EXACT copy of the zone data on both of
them? Or do each of them have a secondary copy of each others' zones? Or do
you have conditional forwarding set between the two for each others' zone?

If not, I can see why there is an inconsistency is occuring.
