A gentle reminder

Quoted from the main page at http://www.tom-cat.com/spybase just under
the page heading "Spyware List":

"The Spyware List database was retired on February 18, 2003.
Please see Retirement Notice ( http://www.tom-cat.com/spybase/spylist-
faq.html#notice ) for details and information on updates/new additions."

We retired the list, yet are still seeing references to it here and elsewhere
when folks are searching for spyware titles. Just a gentle reminder... do
not conclude any findings based on what you do or do not find there. The
remainder of our site is still current and very much active, yet we do not
know how to make it more clear, short of pulling the database off the site
entirely, that the Spyware List is *retired*.

Thanks you and many regards,

Update:

Rather than keep the list available as a reference for older programs, we
felt it was necessary to remove it entirely.

[about the TomCat database]
Rather than keep the list available as a reference for older
programs, we felt it was necessary to remove it entirely.

I can understand the reasons for that decision, but I wish it had not
been made. I used the old list to rule out using apps that had once
been spyware, not trusting authors who might or might not have
subsequently cleaned up their acts.

Thanks very much for providing such a great service for so long. It
was an an extremely useful site.

Thank you, »Q«, for your kind words, and I do hope others will also
understand the circumstances which led to this decision.

May I join in here and also thank you for your very useful JavaScript
page: http://www.tom-cat.com/javascript.html

It really was helpful for me at some time and also later when I could
refer to it and was complimented for pointing to this fine resource.

Thank you, Sietse. Even if we help just one person our work is worth the
effort.

I should point out that although the Spyware List is gone, the remainer of
the site is still very much active.

Many regards,
CatThief
