hi all,

Is there any freeware to rename all my files let is say in my music folder
to
mp3_1, mp3_2, mp3_100 etc ... based on the number of the files with a
predefined
text as above.

Do a search for BatchRN.zip. It will do what you want.
It is only 27K in zip format.
If you cannot find it e-mail and I'll send a copy.

Search for "rename.exe" - will do this and is free
 
I use Bulk Rename Utility, which is free. Google for it.
