I run IE6 on XP
I like to view image files (jpgs and gifs) using IE6 instead of the default
Windows picture and fax viewer. I have to change the settings to accomplish
this
I like to have many images available in the same window. Then I can click
the Back or Forward arrows to look at a different image.
-- I recently noticed that when I was viewing a website and tried to open an
image stored on my hard drive, nothing would happen. Normally, the image
would appear in IE and "replace" the webpage I was viewing. Even more
recently, I noticed that even when I open an image (while no instance of IE
is running) and then try to open another image or else attempt to open
multiple images at the same time, nothing happens. The focus shifts to IE,
but the same image or webpage is shown.
As far as I remember, the Work Offline option in the IE File menu did not
appear when I opened IE to view a stored file. It still doesn't appear when I
open a stored HTML document, but now it is available if I open an image file
My settings are correct from previous versions of Windows.
Under Tools - Folder Options - File Types
I select JPG JPEG Image and click the Advanced tab
I use the DDE Message: "file://%1",,-1,,,,, (this allows multiple images to
be opened in the same window)
Application is IExplore and Topic is System
I'm sure there was some new Microsoft security Update that prevents IE from
doing this now. I uninstalled recent ones related to IE, but the problem
remained.
-- I've also noticed that sometimes if I open links in a new window and have
multiple instances of IE running, the text size in these new windows changes
from my default "Medium" to "Larger"
-- I've been getting signed out a lot of message boards too. There are no
time limits for staying signed in to these particular boards. I didn't delete
any cookies and I always check the "keep me signed in" box
I don't think my ZoneAlarm firewall or McAfee VirusScan are causing any of
this
Minor annoyances, but does anyone have any advice?
