Anyone - After a small networking program failed to setup properly last week, now I've found that other new setups won't initialize properly. I've already used the Control Panel Add or Remove Programs tool to get rid of the offending program, but still get this error message

"You have an unfinished setup on your system that requires that you restart your computer. Please restart your computer before running this setup.

It's been restarted numerous times since then
All bootups are completely normal
Boot.ini does not have more than one path
You wouldn't even know there was an issue, until trying to install any new program - then the setup stalls after about 2 seconds and displays the same message above

Roger - Thanks for all the suggestions. Have worked down your list - without success yet, but still have one left to try. Even if I have no luck, these will probably be very helpful to others who read this

If all else fails, I will have to try finding and installing the original networking program that failed. If I can get it to fully install once, that may fix the problem... (then I can uninstall it later). Tanx again for taking the time to help. ~ Alan K.
