a duplicate name exists on the network

help !!!! i keep getting the following error "a duplicate
name exists on the network". i cant not identify the
problem and am sure that the static ip is not used
elsewhere in the network and the computer name is not in
use. i cant seem to find any other reason for this. i cant
get the machine connected to the network... help !
 
no, static IPs on a peer to peer network. hard wired
through network switch.....

any ideas
 
I meant, is there more than one NIC?
