After years of nVidia finally I decided to switch to ATi :D

Could someone please tell me if the *Radeon Pro 9800* (128Bit) can run
UT2004 at maximum settings; at 1280x1024 resolution or higher; with not less
than 75 FPS?

Thanks! :)

The Radeon 9800 pro is a 256 bit card @ 128 bit it is not a pro. I have a
9800 np ( still 256 bit ) and it can run better than 75 fps @ maximum
settings with 1280 x 1024 - depending on how your system is set up...

Nope, I doubt if even an X800 XT or any other card out there would never
drop below 75 fps in UT2K4 at max settings and 1280x1024.
Here are results from a default set of UMark benches run at high quality
settings at 1280x1024 on my 256 bit 9800 Pro. If you're talking about a
128 bit 9800 Pro the results wouldn't be as good. These are done with
the latest, 4.7 based omega drivers

I've had a Radeon 9800 Pro for about three weeks now (Built By ATI,
paid $199) and matched with an upgrade to 1 Gb of RAM (done last week)
I've been incredibly happy with its performance.
From what I've read you should avoid getting any 9800 Pro that only has
a 128 bit bus, they're rip-offs.

Dunno. But the 128bit card is crap (it's the 9800se) - spend the extra on a
256bit card (pro or standard).

You will likely see something like twice the speed in many games, for
something like 10% of the cost.

Thanks :)

I actually ordered it before posting in here! You've made by day...I lost a
bit of sleep last night :D

Yes, I did mean 128MB Rad PRO not...128 bit BUS.

Sorry for the sleepless night, but you did say 128 bit...

I had a Gigabyte 9800 pro before I broke it ( moving from one pc to
another - I dropped it... Long story, but it got a static shock ). The ATI
9800 np is almost as nice, I burned the rom on it to ATI 9800 pro - the only
difference being the chip voltages - so that I could run the core at stock
9800 pro speed. Some people were lucky enough to get 9800 nps with pro mem
speeds. Eh...

Sorry about the mistake :O

Yes, it was my fault...there's no such thing as memory at 128 bit (wtf!) :)

Thanks anyway.

Actually yes, but it is the 9800 se not the pro, although some 9800 ses can
be modded into pros... Eh...

Nope. We have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 meg, 256 bit. We also have a
Radeon 9800 Pro 128 meg, 128 bit. To which are you referring?

In either case, frame rates will also be dependant on CPU speed, RAM
quantity and speed, operating system.

And in either case, I doubt you will see 75+ fps unless your system is
fully top shelf.

My system is no problem I think:

1 GB memory
