Hi all,

Is there a way to create a user id/signon for just one user that would only
load the needed windows xp apps/pgms? I am trying to have just one user
account that would do that and the other accounts would still be loaded with
the current startup options (nortons, etc).

Thanks in advance,

George

Create a new user and then edit that user's startup apps.

There's a handy bit of info and a link to an app here:

Where would I edit the startup apps. Everything I change, either in MSCONFIG
or the SERVICES change every account, not just the one I am trying to change.

Thanks,

George

The settings are stored in two different branches in the registry. The HKLM
branch (Local machine) stores settings for all the accounts and the HKCU
branch for current user. I believe msconfig and services snap-in modify the
settings in the HKLM branch. If you want to set different options for
different users try some app that does that (like the one Galen offered you)
or learn what registry settings affect what (or better which are the ones you
want to change)

Follow the link, grab the tiny application (~54KB) and it's under
Startup/User... You would, of course, need to log on to that account to then
adjust that user's startup.
