I wonder how can I do the test to be A+ certified? I have engineering
background and I have a CD that prepare me for the test. I was
thinking if there a web site that I can go to do the test. Any
help/hint would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

The test is done on a PC in a controlled enviroment, by test centers, so you
can't do it online and have books by your side :-)

You need to take two tests - A+ software, and A+ hardware (each is £100)
See the compTIA website at http://www.comptia.org/certification/A/faqs.asp

I booked my tests via the Prometric website
http://www.prometric.com/Default.htm
go through the 'finding a test site' to find your local test center, and
then call them up and have a chat to see how to proceed.

Hint for the exams - know what each IRQ is.

You need to find a local testing center, you can't take the two tests online
(must pass both, I'd suggest you take them both at the same time) With an
engineering background, you shouldn't have to prepare for it. I do not have
an engineering background. I do have some formal electronics training, but
most of my computer knowledge has been gained through tinkering on my own
until I actually got hired as a systems analyst. In other words, I had ZERO
professional computer experience before sitting for my A+ exams. AFAIK, I'm
still the only person who ever aced (perfect score) the hardware portion of
the A+. Almost aced the software portion, also. With an engineering
background, you are better prepared for it than I was. At the test center,
the administrator thought there was something wrong with the testing
computer as I left my chair very shortly after sitting down. Then my scores
started printing out, and she was amazed to realize I was done already. The
A+ is easy . . . TOO EASY. It doesn't really mean anything. Unlike many
computer certs though, it does require some knowledge of HARDWARE, as well
as software. But that shouldn't be a problem for an engineer. Go for
