A "cellular modem" is also a "regular modem?"

Not paying as much attention needed, I have purchased two 3COM 3cxm556 PC
Card "cellular modems" on EBay for my laptop. OK, perhaps the one can
connect a cellular telephone to the modem and connect to a cellular service
in some way.

I what two reguar 56K PC card modems to dial my ISP and connect to the
Internet.

Will the modems referenced above do this or have I wasted my money? (I don't
have a cellular telephone.

My fear is that the purpose of a cellular modem is to connect to a data
service on the Internet. No?

What is a "cellular modem?"

I have never use one, but my guess is that you are correct in that they will not work
for dial up. See if the seller is understanding and will take them back minus
shipping charges or auction them off yourself. If you go to 3Coms's website, they
probably have user instructions online--- Steve
