I'm leaving tomorrow to spend the holidays in Party Land (Veracruz, Mexico)
so I wanted to wish you all a merry Christmas and happy new year now. Or,
to practice my Spanish, feliz navidad y próspero año nuevo.

The only truly essential Spanish for such a trip, in my experience, is: "una
cerveza por favor" followed by "gracias." You may want to throw in the
occasional "feliz Navidad" for good measure on this occasion, however.

Have a good time. Remember to take lots of warm clothes, I hear they
can have some real heavy snow falls down there at this time of year. :)

You're closer than you think. Canada sends nortes about every 7-10 days.
They are chilly and *strong* winds. I have literally had to walk leaning at
an angle in order to stay upright. I rather wish Canada would keep its
weather to itself.
