a BIG problem

hello
does anyone know how to fix this problem. my task bar along with start button. everything on that bar just does not respond to anything unless i press alt and tab. i have to do this every few minutes. to keep it working. and the icons on my
screen do not move at all. i cant put them into folders or anything. they goes across and when i release the mouse they just fly back. i reinstalled and it worked fine for a few minutes and then just done the same. i used virus checkers, everything. i even formatted and then reinstalled. again it work for a few minutes and then done the same. Why ahhhhhhhh its driving me insane just thinking about it.

I've been having a similar problem. Sometimes the taskbar locks up, just like
you said. Sometimes other programs do it as well. Every thing keeps working,
it's not really frozen. The system clock keeps updating, the titles keep
updating on programs like winamp, but it doesn't respond to any mouse input,
though strangly if I push the windows key, the start menu will still open. It
won't if I click on it. Does it do that for you too?

Me either. I've found killing a couple unneeded tasks will fix it
temporarily...which task doesn't seem to matter, so it doesn't seem to be a
specific program doing it.
