I just wanted to post this so that it may help someone...

A couple of days ago my system really started getting
sluggish. It didn't do it all the time but when it did i
would reboot to be able to have any functions work at any
speed. I noticed that when i checked Win.Task Man that
explorer.exe was the program using all the cpu's and
really taking the meat out of my systems processing..I
contacted HP online support and was asked"WHEN DID YOU
FIRST START HAVING THE PROBLEM". I of course gestimated
and was given some tasks to perform to no avail. Since,
when rebooting system, it didn't start right then I
started looking and watching WTM cpu meter and found that
when I opened "Shared Folder" which stores my KaZaa
downloads. It started when I tried to delete, transfer, use
CD burner program, convert any files, etc. in that folder or
others related.
Long story short. I DELETED WHOLE FOLDER and smooth
sailing since.
If any of you have a similar problem just back trace your
actions to that point. Computers systems function in a
straight line. Do I need to say more!!!!

Have the exact same problem and I managed to trace it to
the KaZaa download folder using Taskman. So I came here
to see if anyone else had the same problem. Looks like
I'm not alone. If anyone has any suggestions to prevent
this from happening in the future, please post - this
could potentially happen to, let's say "more legitimate"
file sharing apps.

.

I fixed that with a registry patch...it has something to do with explorer trying
to get the properties and make a thumbnail for movie files, especially corrupted
ones. Sorry, but I can't seem to find the fix I used right now.
