Anyone have this combo ? Problems ? Success ?

Will be setting up a homebrewn Tivo using Beyond TV.
Thanks.

Haven't used thta combo, but do use the 98 Pro and the TV-PVR2 (USB2
version) with Beyond TV. Couple of small quirks, but truly a fantastic
setup.

Tom

thanks - i thought about the USB version, but thought performance wise it
would be better going the card route.

it would be running on my main pc for now, P4 3.2, 4GB DDR400, (4) 160GB
SATA drives, until i could move it to its own box.

the usb would probably work fine, but back in the day, i always had issues.
thanks again for the reply.

I have the Sapphire 9800XT and the Hauppauge PVR 250 without any problems !

Do you or anyone here PVR Digital Cable? I'm thinking about getting a
9600 Pro and a Huappage 250 or PCTV deluxe instead of the AIW setup. I
don't need TV on my PC except to record. These driver issues are
driving me away. I like the idea of a USB2 connection.

I don't have PVR digital cable, just standard cable. The USB2 version is
plenty fast, even for the highest quality (be careful, though, many store
still have the older USB version).

Thanks.

I'm using the 9800XT and Leadtek's TV2000XP Dekuxe here with no
hassles.

oh. i never thought of that. i do have digital cable with a silly digital
box. do i need to find something special to handle the digital cable instead
of the analog ?

It's a problem. You need a way to change the channel. See if you digital
box has a serial port.

Tom

dang - no serial on the cable box. might have to try one of those pvr
remotes with the cable eye.

I have a lower-end 9600 XT and PVR 250 combo and the supplied software WinTV
2000 gives me the most aggravation, because it's very buggy, slow and
unstable. Its newer versions as well as the drivers are even worse than the
preceding ones!? Moreover, I couldn't get the PVR 250 to work with
Cyberlink's Powerdirector 2.55.

Is there any other application out there that is better than WinTV 2000?

Many, many ones. Take a look at <http://www.myhtpc.net> for a nice one
that supports the PVR 250. Failing that, <http://www.avsforum.com> has
a lot of good information on this sort of thing.

But very honestly it's hard to out-Tivo a Tivo.
