9800SE Softmod gives me translucent yellow checkerboard

Card works fine with only 4 pipes enabled but if I softmod it using
Omega or OC's method I get yellow checkerboard (made up of scattered
yellow dots) on screen. Is there something i'm missing? The card w/o
softmod is SLOWER than my softmodded 9500 so its gonna go back or
become a spare if its stuck as a 9800SE...

The softmod will only work if the hardware is up to it. In your case it is
not - one or more of the additional pipelines are broken.

I read an article about the soft mod working is a gamble. Some cards work
and some dont, even the same models and make.

The 9800SE is a slow card without mods.

Yep - always figure its a gamble... as was my 9500. Didn't pay off
this time so back it goes. Cost me $23 to find out...
