Ok ATI has not been able to help me so I'm trying here before I
convert back to NVIDIA!!!!! I have a Sony GDM-4011p monitor,9800Pro
running under XP w/Catalyst 3.10.... My desktop will not run in
800x600. The screen is so big that it extends of my 20in. monitor,
it's wierd cause the desktop w/shift off the screen when I move to the
extreme top.bottom or L & R... The reason I need to run in 800x600 is
for some games... When entering some games like NFSU I can't even see
the menus to start the game. I have tried a clean install also.

If I put in a FX5900 I can run the desktop at 800x600 w/no problems
and I can enter the game w/no problems.......

Sorry for the long email, but I wanted to explain all. Please help so
don't have to convert.... and not playing the game is not an
option....

Thanks Brasco

Does device manager display your specific monitor as the one installed, or
does it display a generic type of monitor? If so, go to the website for the
manufacturer of your monitor and download and install the inf file for your
Sony. The inf file will contain all the information your video card needs
re display and refresh specs for your monitor that the video card needs and
that should allow you to set the display correctly.

Also should be no need to be in 800x600 to start any game.
No need to do that here with NFSU, or anything else I have ever seen.

Same here, the NFSU demo works fine for me on my 9800 Pro/Sony G400 using
Cat 3.9 and Cat 3.10 (and the COD patch) on Win2K. Desktop runs in 800x600,
game runs in 800x600 (by default) or 1024x768 with details all up.

You probably have a problem with the install of the Cats, or leftovers of
the nVidia drivers, which are known to cause problems with the Cats (Det
Destroyer can rid you of nVidia drivers)

I do not start the game in 800x600, but the menus are hard coded to
the resolution so when the game starts. I can't see anything. No
matter what my desktop is set to. Which is usually 1152x864....

Thanks....
