I have some ATI processes running (4.11 drivers), I have tried removing the
ATI entry in SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run in the registry
and killing the services. However, after using display preferences the
services get restarted and the registry entry is added back in again.

What do each of these services do and do I really need them? Ids there any
way to stop them permanently?

TIA

Disable them through services.msc in WinXP. (Start -> Run -> type
"services.msc")

Explanations can be found on http://www.blackviper.com/index.html

ATiPoll -> SmartGART detection
ATiKey -> Hotkey sensing app for gamma, screen size adjustments.

The services never started again after doing so on my machine.
