On 1/28 I posted that I ordered a Sapphire 9800 Pro at newegg for $229 and
that they'll probably be $199 by next month. Before I received the card the
price dropped to $224, and newegg was kind enough to give me $5 back.
I checked today, and the price is down to $215. It may not hit the 199 mark
by the 28th, but at this price the card is a real bargain. Dollar for
dollar, it has to be the best value for video cards right now.

If you need a video card right this minute, I agree. I've had my 9800 Pro
for a few months now and it rocks. A really nice card.

In Japan, 9800XT still at the range USD$500 - USD$590;
the 9800Pro almost non-existent.

It's incredible that the price is about nearly 3 times higher !

Ouch!

I know my ATI RADEON 128 9000 PRO is not the same
as your 9800, but at $64, and my game performance,
I feel like I made money. I had 3 games at about $50
each that simply would not run on my G450, and now
they go like blazes. That is a savings of $150 right
there in recovered costs. And my other games have
improved greatly .. so tack on another $50 in recovery.
So, naturally, I just bought Code Of Honor ( $23 on
ebay ) .. here's hoping ... demo runs well on my 9200
at work :-)

An 9000 is a DX8.1 card, a 9800 is a top DX9 card.

But yes you are right, both are much faster as matrox cards ( but
those are not made for gaming anyway! )

When my buddy went to Japan to work for his software company he told me a plain
(no fancy Starbucks stuff) cup of coffee cost the equivalent of 5.00$ in
Tokoyo.
