All,

I am replacing a AIW 8500 in my current computer to a 9800 Pro.

What is the best way to go about this (i.e., driver and software
removal)?

Thanks,

Bill

I'd rec using the Cat Uninstall utility from ATI. Then shut the comp down
and install the new card. On boot Win XP, if that's what you have, will
install default drivers which might even be the same driver as for your
8500. You can then upgrade to whatever driver revision you want. I prefer
Cat 3.7.
Now I'm sure you and I will get tons of completely different instructions
from all the other readers of this NG.

Not really :) Clean simple effective instructions are hard to beat!
So far, in XP Pro, the Cats uninstall fine, then I reboot to Standard
VGA and XP finds the new hardware (can't stop this). I run the new Cat
installer, and it reboots, all is fine then.
The 9800 Pro won't have as much software to contend with as the AIW 8500
did. Just the drivers and control panel :) However, it can never hurt
to have the Cat Uninstaller do its thing as it removes the old files as
well as remove their entries in the registry.

Thanks all.

I went back in some messages and found some topics about Drive
Cleaner. Used it. Installed the 9800 Pro with no problems.
