9800 pro fan not working

Hi. I was trying to play counterstrike source but my screen went blank and I
had to reboot. I checked out my card and the fan isn't turning. Can I get a
replacement or do I have to do something different?

This is a problem with ATI. They won't give you a fan, and they won't
(or wouldn't) sell a fan, either. If the board was under warranty, they
want you to return the entire board to replace a $3 fan (that I was
willing to buy and replace myself ... and in my case, the fan wasn't
even dead, it was just noisy). That's a really bad solution, because
the shipping [EACH WAY!] costs more than the fan.

But what's worse is that if you are out of warranty, then you are just
out of luck. So I guess that the entire board is to be trashed because
the $3 fan went bad.

It makes no sense, and ATI needs to address it.

You best option would be to get a third party fan which would be
superior to the original (and ATI should have used in the first
place).
