I was all set to get the 9800 Pro AIW but came across the Compro
Videomate TV Gold Plus. Of course if I buy the latter, I will need to
buy a separate video card.

Does anyone have experience with one and/or both and can help me
decide what I should do? Thanks for any replies!

Well from everything I have read and from a friends experiance
with the ATI software for the AIW. It is still very fragile and a pain
in the ass. I would highly recommend that you get a 9800Pro and a
seperate card for Video Capturing etc. Might make it cheaper in the
future for when you just want to upgrade your general video card aswell.

MMC does stuff that the third party software doesn't--video desktop, video
in a transparent window, and full screen transparent video for example.
Having lived with those when I went to a third party board I found that I
missed them. OTOH, the latest MMC runs that particular board just fine, so
perhaps it will run the compro as well.

The capture quality on the compro is supposed to be very good and the
software that comes with it is supposed to actually be useful--I haven't
tried one yet but there's plenty of discussion of it over at
<http://www.avsforum.com>.

Keep in mind that HDTV will be the norm in a few years. This is why I wish
I had opted for a separate TV card. In a few years or sooner I will have to
now replace my AIW with two cards instread of one.
