98 - XP problem

HI all,

I'm trying to connect a Win98 machine to my WinXP peer to
peer network. When trying to access any shared resources
on my XP machines I'm prompted to enter a $IPC password.
Unless I enable the guest acount I can't access any
resources on my XP machines....something I really don't
want to do.


Any Ideas?????

If you have XP Home Edition, you must enable network access via the
Guest account. An easy way to do it is with this command:

net user guest /active:yes

However, that setting doesn't affect local access. You can disable
the Guest account for local login in Control Panel | User Accounts, so
that it doesn't allow keyboard access.

If you have XP Professional, you can disable "simple file sharing" and
control access based on user names and passwords. Details here:
