We have just started to encounter a problem with our 98 machines not being able to connect to our 2000 servers using VPN. Our 2000 machines are able to connect. All knowledge base articles containing the error (error 645) have been checked and settings are as they should be per articles. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Error 645: Internal authentication error (also re: error 913), or Dial-Up
Networking could not complete the connection to the server.
Resolutions:
1) uncheck require encrypted password under the Server Types tab.
2) Make sure you are entering your correct username and password when
connecting.
3) Uninstall and reinstall the Dial Up adapter.
4) Refer to error 619 resolution - add the vpn to the appropriate group.

What is the Authentication type you are using on the Win98 client?
WHat are the supported types on the RRAS server?

Send across any logs on the clients/Server on this logon failures.

Thanks. All of these have been done already, but with no success. This
has just started happening two days ago. Prior to then, vpn was working
great. Any other suggestions? ?
