9600XT to X800 Pro Driver Question

I will soon be upgrading from a 9600XT to X800 Pro. I am running the latest
Catalist drivers. Do I need to follow the installation instructions to a "T'
(uninstall driver, change card,and reinstall the driver) or can I just
switch cards. Thanks
 
You'll need to follow the instructions to a tee. This is easy enough to do
with ATi's own uninstall utility located in the

C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\UninstallAll

folder.

OK, Thanks. I thought that since they use the same driver that might not be
necessary.
 
Let me know if you decide to sell the 9600XT. I was thinking of getting one
cheap for Doom3 and HL2. Is it 128 or 256 MB memory?

I'd say just slap it in there first and see what happens.
I've had three different Radeon's in this machine and never uninstalled
anything.
