Debaser

I recently updated to 5.8 when it was still the newst version of
Catalyst. I don't know my previous version, but this came with a new
feature - the control panel. Looked like a nice feature at first, but
everytime I would choose advanced in display properties (on XP) the
system would reboot. Plus, the TV out, though it acted like it was
working fine on the computer end (and it worked fine before the
upgrade) was not sending any video data. So I uninstalled and
reinstalled without the Control Panel and I could choose Advanced
settings again just fine....everything looked like before. But still
no video out to my TV. Also, I'm getting some artifacts in some games
that weren't there before. Have any of these issues been brought up or
solved? I'm a little late, but I wanted to eliminate everything else
first. It's the drivers, for sure.

Thanks.

Sounds like you may have downloaded and installed the driver version
with Control Center, not Control Panel, Debaser. Catalyst drivers
have always had Control Panel unless you download the stand-alone
driver. Control Panel is not normally problematic unless you have
other issues with your system.

You'll have two problems here: first, you must have installed M$' .net
before installing Control Center - that may well be why it's crashing.
Secondly, a lot of people here think the Control Center is
considerably bloated (and we don't want to install .net...) as
compared to Control Panel.

You best bet would be to download the Control Panel version, uninstall
your present driver and replace it with the one you just downloaded.
Or, if you really want Control Center, download .net, uninstall your
present driver, install .net and reinstall your present driver.
