9600 pro problem.

I just got a 9600 pro...in the SE box ;)...had a GF3....got it
home..installed it. Went into safemode. Used driver cleaner...got rid of
everything nvidia. Booted back into XP...installed Omega 3.9's and went to
play Flight Sim 04 and it was fine until my screen went blank! Lost monitor
signal....WTF....So I tried Need For Speed Underground....works great!! same
with NASCAR 03 and 3dmark 01-03....but I play alot of FS 04. So I tried the
Catalyst 3.9's....same thing! So I got rid of the VPU thing thinking that
was the problem...nope same thing. I know its not power supply because other
games work. I am not overclocking. And I can not find anyone with this
problem. Its like the computer is hibernating in the middle of my game. Any
ideas?

You could try using a somewhat older driver such as the Cat 3.7 which seems
to work well with most games.

There is also a patch that ATI has released for the Cat 3.8/3.9 drivers for
the Call of Duty game which could be worth a try since I do know that it
allows Starfleet Command 3 to work with the 3.8/3.9 drivers also. C o D

You have some back up for that statement? Never had a game I cant play yet.

I lost OpenGL for a bit but got it back. I am using the new COD 3.9 patch
and everything works great.

Anyway your statement about half the games not working is a bit strange from
my perspective.
I moved from nvidia g4-mx440 to the 9600pro and can run more games now and
is more compatable.
I can even run the nvidia demos with the wrapper of course.
Anyway an individuals compability experiance probably depends on your
individual game library.

Way to make a statement you have no empirical evidence to back up, you
dolt..... if you don't like radeons then go post where you belong, in
alt.binaries.erotica.adolescent......
 
It is a driver issue. This happens on lots of other games, and even
some screen savers, and it even did it once while playing a AVI. Not
much you can do but try different drivers.
Makes you wish you never left Nvidia. :)

Whats the problem ?, explain how does this make your games and apps
work bad ?
 
you need a pro 9800 minimum to play the flight simulator from microsoft I
think.

i read spomething about it on a magazine.

Not required, only necessary if you want to bump the sliders up a bit more
from the middle settings. One of my PCs is an AMD 1800 + running an ATI 9600
Pro and it will stay consistently at 12-14 FPS on FS 2004 with all sliders
except for clouds and autogen at one notch below max. Autogen and clouds are
set to two notches below max.
