Any reviews on these 2 cards.
I am running a 9500 np and am happy with it, but I'm looking to upgrade my
brothers video card for about the price of one of these 2 cards. Around $150
US.
Suggestions?
TIA, Amir

About the same in performance unless you are lucky with your 9800se,i have a
9800serAIW and am very happy with it as it is unlockable and overclockable.

First a couple of questions about your 9500 np. Does it have 128 megs? Is it
on a red pcb with the memory modules arranged in an L-shape, two on the top
and two on the side?

If the answer to both questions is yes, you may not have to spend another
dime. You may be able to soft-mod it to a 9700 and overclock it to Pro
speeds.

My 9500 np is now a 9700 Pro.

If you do wind up buying a new card, the best option is to buy a 9700 or
9800 non-pro and overclock.

Yo Skid, You are getting ahead of the question.
my 9500np does OC to a 9700 and benchmarks fine(almost 12000 in 3D mark
2001) but shows some glitches in some of my games, so I'm running the 9500
drivers quite happily. The question was for a new card for my brother who is
currently running a gForce 2 MX400. He only wants to spend around $150,
though I'm sure I could talk him into a wee bit more if it would be worth
it.
TIA, Amir

Jeez,
BUT HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO THE 9800SE?
ROTFLMAO.

Amir.

That review shows two 9800se. A Saphire with 128 bit memory and an ATI with
256 bit. The Saphire sucks badly and the ATI just manages to keep pace with
the 9600pro. All in all, the 9600pro is the better buy.

which one the 128 or the 256?

Thanks Dave. I think that's the way we're going to go.
9600 Pro, that is.

Can't tell, given the information you have given. The ATI brand is a known
and is clocked at 400/300. The "Powered by ATI" is unknown. It all depends
on how it's clocked. Don't let the 256 MB of memory fool you. I think that
is more marketing than performance. It's probably made by PowerColor, and
has slow memory clocked at 200 mhz. If so then I'd get the ATI. My
favorite 9600pro was made by Tyan. It was clocked properly and had hardware
monitoring and fan control. I don't see them listed much any more.
