What is the diferance between the 939 and the AM2 skt apart from physical
size and pins,?

AM2 replaced the older 939 socket. AM2 cpu's use ddr2 memory. 939 cpu's
will be discontinued before AM2 cpu's if they haven't done it already.

slower ram. more spyware built directly into the core.

By the end of the year AMD will not produce processors for socket 939 at
all, whereas socket 754 chips will account for less than 5% of the
company’s output. The vast majority of chips – over 95% – will be
designed for socket AM2 infrastructure.
