I have an ATI 9200 128MB video card. When I run SmartGart, it says that it
is ok for fast write and selects it for me. However, when I reboot, it
switches the fastwrite back to off. How do I make it stay on?

Thanks,
G

Is it enabled in your mobo BIOS? Wouldn't worry about it in any case, it
doesn't do much if anything for performance, and affects stability with
certain chipsets, and is disabled in the video BIOS of some cards for that
reason.

ATI cards don't use fast writes. Im not sure if it is possible to get it to
work, but ive seen sites that say to disable it for Radeon cards.

My 9500 and 9700 do, on SiS (Athlon) and Intel (P4) boards, respectively.
The 8500 and relatives don't use it, not sure about the 9200. Doesn't really
make a difference either way. Might as well leave things alone.

9500np + via kt333 fastwrites are enables...But my reccomentation is to not
bother enable the fastwrites. They case a lot of instabillity problems and
the performance gain is un-no-ti-cable

sakis.
