We Live For The One We Die For The One

I can burn the 800 meg cd to 780 ect, with a .cue file to burn a
backup for a game.

But when i just want to save 780 megs of data, or just 750 it wont let
me says the cd aint big enough ?

Also nero says its just has 7.03 or so megs >???, it shows the same as
a 700 meg disc ?

I was going to take em back, but they do work, but just when i use a
..cue file to burn backups for games, just not for other data ?

My buner is the latest one, can burn 99 minute cds so i have NO IDEA
whats going on.

Any help please do.

The cd;s brand is Hico.

thanks.

you are making a common mistake
the size of a disk image is not the same
as the actual data space it consumes on a cd
once burnt

an 800 meg image can fit on a 730 meg cd
but 800 meg of data wont

Hi,

This may help explain it some:
http://www.cdrfaq.org/faq03.html#S3-8-2

Keep in mind that if you are using WinXP's native burning engine, it is very
limited in what it can do.

But iam using 90 minute 800 meg discs ?

Shoudl fit atleast 800 megs ?

it is 800 meg disc, why say 800 when its not then ?

becuase just cos it says 800 meg or 90 min
doesnt mean the software and / or hardware
can burn that big a disk

read the faq

90 min disks are a deviation from cd standards
and are not guarenteed to work with all software
and hardware.

Hi,

Did you read the section on overburning? Not that it is not supported on all
systems.

So what software can burn 90 or 99 minute cds and use all the space ??

Hi,

Nero's version 6 supports 90 minute disks and overburning *if* the drive
supports it.

I've run into this same issue. I have some 750-800mb files on my harddrive that I wish to burn off. I purchased 90minute/800mb CDRs specifically for this task

I dual boot into both Linux and XP. I use XCDRoast & CDRtools in Linux to burn these CDs without a problem. I can then read these same burned CDs in both Windows XP & Me on both my CDR & DVD drives, however, Windows XP will not recognize these CDs as 800MB CDs for burning purposes. I put the CD into the drive and tell XP to burn the file to the CD only to have XP tell me that there is only 700mb of space available on the CD (wrong!!!!!)
