I made a movie using imported 8mm home movie footage and adding music. It says
I don't have enough HD space (14g free) to save it as DV-AVI. The movie is 2
hours
long. I can save it to an external HD, how is it then supposed to fit on a
DVD? MMM says the movie is 28560 MB. Can I use a program like DVDDecrypt to
compress it?
or possibly use a different format. Thanks, first time movie maker.

If you can save it on the external hard drive...
give it a try. Your authoring software should
burn the DVD based on the length of the
movie not the file size.

BTW, your authoring software may offer you
an option of fitting the two hour movie on a
single layer DVD...otherwise you will need
to split it half and burn in on two DVDs or
possibly use a dual layer DVD if you have
that type of burner.

A bit off topic ... but how did you transfer/import 8mm home movie
footage? I have a bunch of them that I haven't been able to figure out
how to transfer.

I recently had a Wedding Video I created that was about 30 minutes long.
When I save it to a DV-AVI file it was amost 8gig. I used Nero7 to create a
DVD and the files were about 2gig.

In regard to the question about transferring 8mm home movie footage I used a
company called Home Movie Depot. Go to www.homemoviedepot.com for pricing
and details.
