Is anyone running HL2 on an AIW8500DV or similar? Is it stable? What drivers
are you using?

Haven't tried it on HL2 but did with Thief3 and Doom3. It was a slide show,
even with reduced performance settings and low resolution. I used a full
bore 8500 128Mb clocked at 300/300. The 8500DV is a lot slower....it runs at
225 or 230Mhz core and 250 memory. So I would not expect stellar
performance.

This is not about performance - performance on my system is ... adequate.
It's reliability that's the problem.

Lowest visual settings 640x480 on a reg 64MB 8500 wasn't great.

I have only played around with the "Train Station" haven't even gone trough
the turnstiles yet. ;-) I'm waiting for my RMA's AIW 9800 Pro to come back
from ATI, then I will start to play HL2 in earnest. I am currently using my
ATI Radeon 8500 128mb card. I have all the settings on high , but no AA and
water is on " reflect all". I don't know what my fps is but it seems very
playable in this first scene. I love picking up garabage and throwing it at
the guard and the flying camera bot.

my BBA 8500 64MB on a 2400+, 256MB , Hl2 running surprisingly good on
800x600 only texture set to medium.other setting set up high the fps
is alway 30+ until there was big explosion then the frame rat may drop
for half a second, other than that all play good.

when other big FPS come out this year, (Doom3, Farcay , Thief 3) none
of them able to get a playable frame rate on 8500 even on lower
setting,

so valve really do a great job to make the game which look & play good
on not so high end computer.

BTW 8500 is run on cat 4.10 on Win98se

No problems and smooth with a Celeron D 2.4, 512mb ram and a 8500LE
128MB
All settings to max at 1024
Drivers are Catalyst 4.7 on both PC's
