8500 & 8500LE (64MB) - pros and cons?

  • Thread starter Thread starter John Smith

Same GPU
8500 275mhz
8500LE 250mhz

memory speed
8500 250mhz
8500LE 200mhz

The 9100 is just a remarked 8500LE

Also, the 8500LE has DVI-D connector, not DVI-I. This means you cannot
connect DVI to VGA adapter so you cannot have dual monitors.

As it is an older card, there must be plenty of second hand nonLEs
available. I've still got mine that I ought to offload sometime.

Although the stock factory speeds are shown in one of the replies, look for
a better grade version of the LE if that's what you're after. I have a
Hercules 8500LE and using their OC utility have run if for over a year at
275 core/250 memory speeds without trouble, my son plays games on this
system, mostly high frame rate stuff like RallySport Challenge and other
racing stuff. I use it for UT2003, Halo and a few others. Some Sapphire
cards OC even higher, especially the memory, mine won't clock up above 250.
Enjoy!

There seems to be a lot of difference between some of these cards even in
the same brand and model designation. I have two Sapphire 8500LE cards. One
has 4ns memory and will easily overclock to full 8500 speeds. The other has
5.5ns memory and won't.
