I've got a Toshiba Satellite 2450 laptop with a Linksys
WPC54G-CA Wireless-G Notebook Adapter. I've followed the
instructions on the Linksys web site which consists of
updating the WPC54G drivers, updating Windows XP to SP1,
and installing the 815485 WPA patch. Now, I've already
done this on two desktop machines and it worked fine
(TKIP option showed up and I could connect). However,
for some reason the laptop is not showing the TKIP option
(or any other WPA-related options) after applying the
815485 patch.

Anyone have any ideas on what to do? I phoned Linksys
who told me the problem was with the Microsoft patch.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the 815485
patch. I'm stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

there is a newer wireless rollup update on windows update. did you
install that?

Yep, tried that too, still no luck. I'm wondering if
maybe it has something to do with the fact that there are
two wireless adapters in the laptop - the built-in
Toshiba 802.11b and the WPC54G 802.11g. Now I've turned
off the built-in Toshiba adapter and disabled it in the
network connections, but maybe I should try removing it
from the device manager?

disable it in devman. and if there is a hardware switch for it on the
toshiba, turn that off as well.

Still no luck after disabling the Toshiba Wireless
Adapter in the device manager and turning off its switch.

I have no idea what else to try, short of reinstalling
Windows, which I really don't want to do.

Alright, finally sorted it out. I uninstalled some
Toshiba Odyssey crap and deleted the Linksys card in
devman and rebooted. The WPA settings then magically
appeared. Everything seems to be working fine now.

Thanks for your input, Barb.
