I would like to know if windows 2000 SP4 supports 802.1x EAP-FAST.I know PEAP
and others are supported, but what about EAP-FAST.

Hi Benny,

Based on my research, EAP-FAST and LEAP are not supported on Windows 2000
SP4 system. If you plan to install a wireless network adapter on win2k SP4
machine, I suggest you omit EAP-FAST installation when you install the
wireless NIC on the system and choose PEAP as the authentication method to
communicate with other machines.

Windows server family (win2k and win2k3) now support PEAP and
EAP-MS-CHAPv2. You can choose between two EAP types for use with PEAP:
EAP-MS-CHAPv2 or EAP-TLS. PEAP-EAP-MS-CHAPv2 provides improved security
over MS-CHAPv2 by using mutual authentication for server authentication.

For more details, please refer to the following article:

I understand some hardware manufacturers have developed the NICs which
supports EAP-FAST and it would be more convenient if win2k supports
EAP-FAST. I recommend that you forward the recommendation to the Microsoft
Wish Program. The more feedback they get about a particular feature, the
higher the chances of those features making into the next release.

You can choose the following way to send your feedback about the EAP-FAST:

E-mail - To send comments or suggestions via e-mail, use the following
Microsoft Wish Program e-mail address, (e-mail address removed).

FAX - To send comments or suggestions via FAX, use the following Microsoft
FAX number, (425) 936-7329.

NOTE : Address the FAX to the attention of the Microsoft Wish Program.

US Mail - To send comments or suggestions via US Mail, use the following
Microsoft mailing address:

Microsoft Corporation

If you have any update or further concerns, please feel free to post back.
