a friend of mine just found a rack that he thinks might have been from
a RISC server ...it contains 6 harddrives 80 pin SCSI SCA2

here is the link

anyone know if there's a controller that would allow the use of these in a
PC?
(my guess is that if such a thing exists, it would prob. be more expensive
than
it;s worth)

barring that, if anyone could use the drives
just send me an email

Any standard SCSI controller supporting 56-pin devices should work fine. It
is PROBABLY possible to adapt the 80-pin bus in the rack to one of these
controllers. It is ABSOLUTELY possible to adapt the drives themselves to a
standard 56-pin cable SCSI using little interface boards available from a
number of sources. One example:

given that these are only 9.1 gB drives it might not be reasonable to spend
the money unless you can be sure that one adapter will serve to interface to
the whole bus-worth of drives though. The rack will have to have the power
supply(ies) in place to make this worthwhile BTW.

thanks for the info!

although the price of the adaptor is pretty low...
it;s prob not worth it for just a 9 gig drive...

well maybe someone who can use them will let me know...
otherwise they make nice paperweights <g>
