8.11 MB Excel File Won't Open

Part of my job requires me to upkeep various Excel files that detai
Utility Pole Contacts here on the South Central Oregon Coast. M
largest file (now 8.11 MB) has always opened slow and never reall
bothered me. Now, it won't open at all. I've tried all of the typica
remedies to include deleting the temporary internet files and using th
Excel Viewer with no luck. Is there anyway to discover if the file ma
be corrupted without having to spend $80.00? Thanks in advance for an
advice.

Almost forgot.....using Microsoft Office 2000

Just guesses...

Try opening in Safe mode.

Close excel
windows start button|Run
excel /safe

Maybe you can recover something that way.

You might be able to recover more by using another program--both xl2002 and
OpenOffice have better reputations for opening files that earlier versions of
excel couldn't.

Try http://www.fdrlab.com/repair.html
They can recover corrupted Excel files with all contained information
including comments, VBA, charts, links etc.
No one software can do this completely.

$35 per file
