I have trawled through most of the pages in this forum and found lots of unaswered questions on why cant MM2 capture from my analogue card. Is there anyone that knows the answer. It always tell you another device is using it or ERROR. Why can't Microsoft come up with an answer. Not even on Papajohns site is there an answer.

Hi Barney,

I guess you've read the page on my site devoted to Pinnacle's analog
devices... with not much in the way of positive notes.... have you gone to
the two Pinnacle newsgroups that I refer to? and the SimplyDV.com forums
have one devoted to Pinnacle (software) too.

Thanks for answering PapaJohn but I have been there as well, and also belong to the forum, and still have not had an answer. All I really want to know is what sort of capture card are people using to capture in Windows Moviemaker2, without it telling me some other device is using it. "please close it down and try again". There has been many questions asked about this but not one positive result. Surely someone must be capturing video from a VCR with some form of capture card other than Pinnacle DC10+ that works.

Yes, I'm capturing fine with a Dazzle 80... but if a device doesn't work
with MM2, I don't know how to tweak it so it does....

My laptop has a TV tuner card and shows up in the list of devices in MM2,
but I can't capture with it.... the message I get is "...the video device is
currently in use. Close any other application that is using the device and
try again...." It's been telling me that since I got the laptop 10 months
ago and my research concluded that it just won't work in MM2. It's a
limitation and maybe a poorly written error message. But it's something I
can't tweak and change.

Yours might be the same, if there's no-one who you can find via research who
has been able to do it.... I never tried a DC10+ but it might be capturing
to an MPEG2 file that MM2 can't handle directly and you need to capture it
first and convert it..... I just did a Google search and the info I see
about the DC-10+ is that it captures to a Motion-JPEG format.... not one of
the file types supported...

So maybe it's time to stop trying.
